Born in Belfast and educated at Annadale Grammar School, Atlantic College, University College London, the University of Ulster and the Open University, I was a teacher and Vice-Principal at Dalriada School in Ballymoney before moving to Holywood to become Principal of Sullivan Upper School. Since retiring in 2010 I have acted as an independent education consultant and written a book called 'Moving Up!', a roadmap for parents whose children are making the transition from primary to secondary school.
