Northern Ireland politics – it’ll make you laugh or cry! Whatever your political persuasion, this week we got a laugh when DUP leader Arlene Foster’s Twitter account (of all accounts!) congratulated the wrong British Prince on his engagement to Megan Markel. Mrs Foster doesn’t personally run the @DUPleader account – a party employee does – but don’t let facts ruin our fun.

And Mrs Foster’s tweet wasn’t in vain – I was inspired to compile 10 other funny tweets which caught my eye in recent months. Amidst the crises of no Executive and no NI voice on Brexit, there have been a few laughs along the way in 2017. Whether those have been with or at our politicians, that’s another matter. Enjoy!

Arlene Foster’s tweet congratulating the wrong Prince on his engagement was taken down soon after it was posted.
